As a specialist fostering agency, our allowances are typically higher than standard fostering rates. This reflects both the level of care required and the specialist nature of the placements we provide. The exact level of allowance will vary depending on a number of factors, including the needs of the child, the complexity of the placement, and your experience as a foster parent.

What Your Allowance Covers

Fostering allowances are intended to support you in meeting the day-to-day needs of the child or young person in your care. This includes essentials such as food, clothing, activities and general living costs, as well as recognising your time, skills and commitment as a foster parent.

In addition to your regular allowance, there may also be access to additional financial support depending on the circumstances of each placement, helping to ensure that children have every opportunity to thrive.

Benefits: In most cases, becoming a foster parent will not affect any benefits you currently receive. We can provide guidance based on your individual circumstances to help you feel confident moving forward.

Tax: Fostering allowances are generally non-taxable in most situations, due to specific tax relief schemes available to foster carers. This means that a significant portion—if not all—of your fostering income may be tax-free.
